Walk in Cold Storage Solutions

A walk-in refrigerator is not only an essential piece of kitchen equipment for a catering or food-based business, it can also be a handy addition to a family kitchen at home. An indoor refrigerator or cold room is where you will keep the food supplies which will keep your customers – or your family – fed, and therefore it’s important to make sure that the unit is running as effectively as possible at all times. When a cold room isn’t running properly, it can cause all kinds of problems from spoiled food to huge electricity bills.

In order to avoid any potential cold room issues, it’s important to make sure that your unit is scheduled for regular maintenance. Each month, the refrigerating unit should be thoroughly checked for leaks and any pipes and filters should be checked to ensure that they are free from any blockages and other debris. This is a task that you can do yourself if you know your way around the refrigerator, or you can have a handyman or other professional do it for you. If you carry out these monthly checks yourself, it’s important to have a professional come and give your unit a once-over at least twice a year as they will be trained to notice any problems which you may have overlooked.

Saving Energy

Because indoor refrigerators are quite large units, they tend to use up a lot of energy. Since it can take quite a lot of power to keep a unit of this size cool, it’s vital that you stick to a range of good energy saving strategies in order to make sure that you don’t waste electricity and end up getting slapped with a huge bill. Keeping the door open for any longer than absolutely necessary should always be avoided, and you should also keep the unit as well-stocked as possible for optimum efficiency.

Avoiding Power Outage

Since walk in cold storage units can consume a great deal of power when they turn off and back on, they can potentially lead to a tripped circuit breaker or power outage. Because of this, you may want to consider getting a generator in order to back up the power in the event of a power outage, so that the unit switching off and back on again doesn’t lead to any further problems.

If you keep your walk in cooler unit properly maintained, it will last you for a long time.
